Hi Year 5 and parents! We hope you had a lovely half term! Here’s all you need for home learning this week.

Below is a copy of the timetable. All the resources for each lesson are listed further down the page. You should complete any work in your Home Learning exercise book. If you want to share your work and get feedback, ask your parent to email a photo/scan to Miss Griffiths rgriffiths@ashgreenprimary.co.uk (or you can send it through Teams).

As of this week, there will be three Teams sessions a day. Miss Griffiths will talk through the work for the day in the morning session. Because of the increased number of Team sessions, there are no small group sessions.

Monday

Spelling Shed: Practice the spellings for this week.

Reading: See the next Reading for pleasure video. This video is based around characters. Complete the activities throughout the video in your Home Learning books.

Writing: Features of speech. Complete the text detectives sheet, before watching the solution video.

PSHE: This week is Aspirations week. Watch the video and complete the activity at the end – Setting Goals. You will need to complete this activity for the ready of the week’s PSHE activities. PowerPoint for the whole week

Art:  This week we will be completing our artwork based on our book, Trash. Watch the video showing different types of Trash art. Make your own 2D, or 3D, piece of artwork using recycling from your house. 2D would be easiest! Perhaps try to cut your trash up and stick it into a mosaic style piece of art?

 

Tuesday

Reading: Read ‘Trash’ Chapters 5 & 6 (or listen to Mr Bennett reading them – or both!) – Video. Draw a story map for the events of these chapters.

Writing: Watch the video of Mr Bennett explaining how to correct punctuate speech. Complete the writing activities within the video. Powerpoint link

Writing: Use the planning sheet to organise your ideas about a conversation between Raphael, Gardo and his auntie.

Geography: Land use – Watch the video of Mr Bennett explaining the different types of land use. Use the website to create your own table showing the land use percentages of the different countries of South America.

 

Thursday

Writing: Watch the video of Mr Bennett modelling the writing. Begin your own piece of writing, which you will finish tomorrow.

Music: Drum workshop session – Watch the video of Mr Bennett explaining the basic beats of drumming. Make your own drum kit (instructions in the video) and join in!

 

Friday

PSHE: Use everything you have thought and made notes about to create your own aspirations poster. Display it somewhere so remind yourself of your goal and to keep pushing towards it. –PowerPoint for the whole week
