Hello Year 1 and parents! This page is where you will find all that you need for your home learning.

We hope you are all well and have enjoyed a fun-filled, happy half term break! You all most certainly deserved a great break after working so hard for the past 6 weeks. Everyone in the Year 1 team is so proud of you and really can’t wait to see your beautiful faces in school, when it is safe!

IMPORTANT NOTICES:

  • TEAMS CALLS:
  • WELCOME/REGISTER TEAMS CALL WILL BE AT 9AM FOR 1MW / 9.15AM FOR 1AT (ALL children MUST attend the session for their class)- JOIN THE CALL AT YOUR SPECIFIC TIME.
  • THE WHOLE GROUP TEAMS WILL NOW OCCUR AT 10.45AM EVERYDAY
  • IMPORTANT: We will use the whole group Teams meetings to go through the ENGLISH writing lessons for the week.
  • *Please send Thursday’s List Poem for English to the remote teacher by Friday please so we can log it and file it*

Overview:  Week 7 Timetable 

Above is a copy of the timetable. All the resources for each day are listed further down the page. You should complete any work in your Home Learning exercise book. Alternatively, If you would like to print the worksheets, you could stick them into your home learning book. If you want to share your work and get feedback this week, ask your parent to email a photo/scan to Mr Wignall at mwignall@ashgreenprimary.co.uk

For Maths, we are focusing continuing to focus on measurements. Please find the videos and worksheets below. You can answer the questions in your Home Learning book if you prefer or print the work sheet. PLEASE NOTE: There is a link to the video on the 1st page of the power point.

For English: We have written some fantastic non-chronological reports and the ones we have seen have been amazing! This week we are going to look at List Poems and by the end of the week, we will have completed a List Poem of our own about the Browns’ House (PRACTICE WRITE).  ALL ENGLISH LESSONS WILL BE COVERED WITH TEACHER INPUT ON TEAMS.

Next week, you will write a list poem INDEPENDENTLY.

Reading: This week we are looking at poems and their features.

Spellings for this week can be accessed on Spelling Shed. Ask a grown up to test you on your spellings on Friday.

We are moving onto week 7 of the spellings.

Art– This week our foundation subject focus is Art. We will be looking at primary colours, finger and sponge painting. If you do not have the paints to do this, you can discuss your ideas with your grown and use different materials, for example pencil crayons, chalk etc.

Monday

Maths – L.O: I can measure lengths

Worksheet– Answers

Phonics: ‘y’ /igh/ Sound – Work your way through the PowerPoint and complete the activity.

English:  This week we are going to be focusing on List Poems. (Teacher inputs will be via the daily Teams calls)

LO: I can find features of a List Poem.

Got through the PowerPoint and discuss the features of List Poem. Write down any sounds that you have collected into your home learning book or onto the worksheet.

Reading: This week we are focusing on Poems.

L.O: I can read simple sentences and pick out relevant information.
– Go through the PowerPoint and discuss the questions with a grown up.

English: LO: I can identify sounds we might collect from different places.

Download the worksheet and listen for noises around your house. What sounds do they make?

Follow the PowerPoint and write sounds the sounds that you have collected onto the worksheet or into your home learning book.

Reading – L.O: I can talk about how a poem makes me feel.

Follow the PowerPoint and recap yesterday’s learning. Complete the worksheet.

Art: L.O: I can draw an outline of Paddington.

This week, you are going to draw and finger paint a picture of Paddington in the park.

  • Firstly, you will need a pencil and a piece of paper.
  • Use you pencil to draw an outline of Paddington in the park. Be steady with your pencil and take your time.
  • If you can’t remember how Paddington looks or if you are struggling, you could look at this link for ideas.
  • You can also watch this video as a little tutorial, but don’t forget we are not using any pencil crayons- only pencil. Also make sure your picture is of Paddinton in the park. Think about what else you might see!
  • Do not use any colour- only a pencil as you will be painting onto this tomorrow.

Wednesday 

Maths – L.O: I can solve length problems using subtraction.

Go through the PowerPoint and complete the plan with your ideas.

Use this link to help you to think about the sounds that Paddington might hear in Mr and Mrs Browns’ house.

Reading: L.O: I can talk about how a poem makes me feel.

Follow the PowerPoint and complete the worksheet.

Art: L.O: I understand what primary colours are and I can create a finger painting of Paddington. 

  • You will need your drawing from yesterday, brushes and some paint (blue, red, yellow) and any other colours that you would like.
  • What are primary colours? How could we make other colours using our primary colours? Watch the video.
  • IF you don’t have paint you could use pencil crayons, pastels or chalk.
  • Now watch the video about finger painting. You are going to use the same technique to paint your picture.
  • What primary colours are you going to use for your painting of Paddington? which colours will you mix? are you going to use any brushes?
  • Use your drawing of Paddington from yesterday as the outline for your finger painting- Don’t forget that you must use your fingers to paint aswell as brushes.
  • We look forward to seeing your artwork.

Maths – Introducing weight and mass

Phonics: Practice your common exception words for this week.

Complete the worksheet to help you practice the spellings of these tricky words.

English: LO: I can write a List Poem based on sounds from the Browns’ House. (practice write)

Go through the PowerPoint and use your plan from yesterday to write your List Poem about the Browns’ House. You can use the worksheet or if you would like to write it completely independently, you can in your home learning book.

*PLEASE EMAIL THIS LIST POEM TO MR WIGNALL*

Reading: Choose a story from the ‘pickatale’ or ‘epic’ app- these can be downloaded from an appstore on mobile and tablet devices. Alternatively you could read any book at home or find a story from any other reading app. You will be writing a book review in tomorrow’s reading lesson.

Friday

Maths – L.O: I can measure mass.

Powerpoint – Worksheet – Answers

Phonics: Recapping all  the sounds from the week with Miss Hussain.

Watch the video an pause it when you need to- try sound out the words and have a go at writing some sentences.

English: I can practice letter formation.

Reading: Complete a mini book review about the book you had chosen yesterday. You can use the template or you can write straight into your home learning book.
