Hi Year 5 and parents! Here’s all you need for our next week of home learning.
Below is a copy of the timetable and a video of Miss Griffiths talking through it. All the resources for each lesson are listed further down the page. You should complete any work in your Home Learning exercise book. If you want to share your work and get feedback, ask your parent to email a photo/scan to Mr Bennett at firstname.lastname@example.org – this week we’d like everyone to send in their Science work and their report (Wednesday and Thursday’s writing task).
Spellings – adding suffixes to -fer words – remember to practise on Spelling Shed
Monday Maths – Multiplying 2-digits by 2-digits
Tuesday Maths – Multiplying 3-digits by 2-digits
Wednesday Maths – Multiplying 4-digits by 2-digits (basic practice)
Thursday Maths – Multiplying 4-digits by 2-digits (with problems)
If you need extra practice with the written method (long mutliplication, x by 2-digits), then try this codebreaker task.

Tuesday: Watch the video below, which talks through the features of comparative reports, and then plan your own using the planning template. Here is an example comparative report (with features highlighted).
Wednesday: Write a comparative report about the differences between life in Trentham and life in Behala (the dumpsite in ‘Trash’). Watch the model write in the video below. Use your plan from yesterday to help you.
Thursday: Finish off your comparative report. *Share this with Mr Bennett*
Friday: Watch the video below, recapping key tips and common mistakes in handwriting, and then complete the Handwriting practice task in your Home Learning book (copy the poem using the cursive style).
Monday: Who would like to hear from you? Who might be missing people? Write and send a postcard or letter to someone (e.g. friend, grandparent) to say hello.
Tuesday: What could you do to help around the house? Ask your family and then do it.
Wednesday: What are you grateful for? Make a list. Ask people at home – what are they grateful for?
Thursday: What helps you to relax? Spend 30 mins doing it.

Monday: Watch the video to learn about physical & human features, then try the task (explained in the video below).
Science Watch the video to learn how to plan and carry out your own fair test at home.
This week’s Music session is all about pitch. Watch the video to explain the features of the software and how they relate to different instruments, then have a go yourselves at https://learningmusic.ableton.com/index.html (click the symbol in the top left and choose the ‘Pitch’ chapter). Work your way through to page 6 where you can start to make your own music. It would be great if you could record some of your songs and email them across.
