A warm welcome to Year 3 children, parents, grandparents and carers! We are now finding ourselves in week 3 of our remote learning journey. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our thanks to the children for continuing to work so hard, sharing their work with the Year 3 team. A huge thank you also to all parents, grandparents and carers for your continued support during these unprecedented times. Collectively, we have all had to adapt very quickly as well as familiarising ourselves with aspects of new technology. This has lead to a few hiccups along the way, but hopefully, these will also be ironed out over the next few weeks.
It has been lovely for children at school to join in with our team meetings. The children were very excited to say hello to their friends at home and share some joint learning moment.
Please continue to check this page regularly as it contains all the necessary information and resources your child needs to continue with their amazing learning.
Below is a copy of the Year 3 timetable as well as a video, talking you through what children will be learning both at home and in school. All resources needed for each lesson are listed further down the page. Please encourage children to complete their work in their Home Learning exercise book. There is no requirement nor need to print any of the worksheets off. If you would like to share your work and get feedback this week, ask your parent to e-mail a photo / scan of your work to Miss Bullock at kbullock@ashgreenprimary.co.uk Please check the timetable for work we would like to see this week. One is your reading activity on Thursday and the second one your settings description on Friday.
We hope you all have another amazing week.

Reading
Reading will look slightly different this week. There will be a focus on ‘Reading for Pleasure’. Reading for Pleasure focuses on what we want to read rather than what we have to read. There will be a new video for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Whilst you are watching the videos, remember that you can rewind these to re-listen as well as pause the video to complete your tasks. Write your answers into your Home Learning book.
Monday – Reading for pleasure through personal reflection – Lesson 1
Tuesday – Reading for pleasure through discussion of favourite character– Lesson 2
Wednesday – Reading for pleasure through book recommendations – Lesson 3
Thursday – Research and make notes about your favourite author
Please send a photo / scan of your notes to Miss Bullock at kbullock@ashgreenprimary.co.uk This will be your 1st piece of homework evidence required.
Friday – Write a biography about your favourite author

Science – Monday
In Science, you will be continuing to learn about plants. The focus for this week is how water travels to different parts of the plant.
How does water travel to different parts of the plant?
French – Tuesday
This week, you will be starting your journey to become a French speaker. There are two PowerPoint presentations. The first one will give you some background information about France, whilst the second PowerPoint presentation will model some basic greeting. When you open the second PowerPoint, ensure that you have this in a slideshow mode as this is the only way it will allow you to listen to the pronunciations. I have also included some sound files. Why not be very brave and learn the ‘Meet and Greet Song’?
